Questions
Basement Finishing FAQ
How Syracuse Basement Co. works, what the walkthrough includes, and the planning questions homeowners ask most.
How it works
Is Syracuse Basement Co. a contractor?
No. We are a basement planning and matching resource. We publish planning guides and connect homeowners with an independent local basement contractor whose Utah license and insurance we've checked. Contracts, permits and construction are between you and that contractor.
What does it cost to request a walkthrough?
Nothing. The in-home walkthrough is free, and sending a request doesn't commit you to anything.
What will I get after the walkthrough?
A layout sketch, a written scope and an itemized estimate, so you can see where each room goes, what the project includes and what each part costs before deciding.
How quickly will I hear back?
The contractor contacts you within 24 to 48 hours of your request to schedule the walkthrough.
Who sees the information I send?
We use it to respond to your request, and we share it with the independent local basement contractor so they can contact you. Details are in our privacy policy.
Which cities do you cover?
Syracuse, Layton, Clearfield, Clinton, West Point, Kaysville and Farmington, all in Davis County.
What should I decide before the walkthrough?
Mainly what the basement is for: how many bedrooms, whether you want a bathroom, wet bar or kitchenette, and who might live there in the coming years. The layout follows from that.
Can I live in the house while the basement is finished?
Usually, yes. Most families stay in the home during a basement finish. Expect noise, dust control and some trips through the house for the crew, and ask the contractor how they handle access and cleanup.
Are the photos on this site real projects?
No. They are illustrations of finished basements, used to show ideas. They are not completed projects by Syracuse Basement Co. or its contractor partner.

Still have a question?
Send your basement details and ask it there. A screened local contractor will reach out within 24 to 48 hours.
